THE NEEDS OF A NEW CONVERT

Fact

          A Christ-Centered Church just doesn’t happen.  It take work,  praying and planning.

Saul Needed Three Things:

I. Need #1: To Receive Help From a Mature Believer. – L – v. 10-15

A. Ananias was sensitive to God’s call. – L – v. 10

B. Ananias understood his difficult assignment. – L - v. 11-15

1) He knew Saul’s past – L – v. 13

2) He knew Saul’s present. – L – v. 14

3) He knew now Saul was praying. – L –v.11

4) He now knew God had chosen Saul – L - v.15 – John 14:15

EPHESIANS 6:4

                              “And you fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition  of the Lord.”

MARK 12:30,31

                              Jesus said “ and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all you mind and with all your strength….And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no other commandment greater than these.”

Fact

          For children to learn to obey God,  there must be biblical  training at home. Parents should not just read God’s word, but they must live  it.

II. Need #2: To Know He Was God’s  Chosen Vessel – L – v. 25-26; - L - John 15:16

A. God has chosen the believer to hear the Lord’s name – L – v. 15

I CORINTHIANS 6:19, 20

                                               “or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  For you were bought at a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

MATTHEW 16:24  Jesus said, “If anyone desires to come after                   Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow Me.”

Q: What does it mean to hear Jesus’s name?

A: 1) To follow Jesus

A: 2) To be a living sacrifice

ROMANS 12:1  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy to God, which is your reasonable service.”

A: 3) To have total faith in Jesus

HEBREWS 11:6  “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

B. Believers are chosen to suffer for Christ – v.16 ; - L – John 15:20

III. Need #3:  To Experience Help from God’s Disciples – L – v. 17,18

A. Saul needed a touch from Ananias – L -  v. 17a

B. Saul needed to know he was a spiritual brother – L – v. 17b

C. Saul needed his sight back. – L – v. 18a

D. Saul needed the Holy Spirit - L – v. 17; - L – Acts 1:8

Conclusion:

1. Learn to hear God’s Voice – L – v. 10

2. Don’t let fear stop you from obeying God – L – v. 13, 14

3. God’s Spirit can change anyone – L – v.17, 18
