Why Some People Miss Christmas
Four Reasons People Miss Christmas:
I. People are too Busy - L Luke 2:7
Key Person: The Innkeeper.
A. He showed insensitivity for others.
You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.
B. He showed false compassion.
II. People Are Too Afraid - L Matthew 2:1-8
Key Person: Herod
A. Herod wanted his position. - L v. 2,3
“Troubled” means agitated or stirred up
B. Herod was paranoid - L v. 4
C. Herod used his power - L Mathew 2:16
But his citizens hated him, and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We will not have this man to reign over us.’
III. People Are Too Indifferent - L Matthew 2:4-6
Key People: The Jewish Religious leaders
A. They were self-righteous.
B. They were prideful
But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
Fact: Everyone needs a Savior.
IV. People Are Too Religious - L Luke 2:15-20
Key People: The General Public
A. The shepherds informed people in Jerusalem. - L Luke 2:17,18
“Marveled” means amazed
