How To Have Dreams Of Faith

Acts 9:34-43

Question:  What are dreams of faith?

“Faith” is acting out what God is telling us to do.

Lesson:  

Dreams of faith which involve Jesus Christ can produce more than we expect.

Ephesians 3:20

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

Four Facts Dealing With Dorcas’ Resurrection:

I.  The Place Dorcas Lived. - L v. 36

A)  She lived in Joppa. - L v. 36a

B) Joppa had Christians there. - L v. 36

II.  Dorcas Had A Tragic Death. - L v. 36-39

A)  She was a faithful Christian. -  L v. 36a

1. She had two names.  - L v.36a

“Tabitha” and “Dorcas” both mean gazelle or deer.

Proverbs 5:18b-19b

And rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe.

2. She was committed to Christ. - L v. 36b & Acts 10:38

Lesson:  

Instead of wishing you had some other gift, just use the gift.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Proverbs 31:20

She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

B) Dorcas tragically died. -  L v. 37

C) Some disciples had a dream of faith. - v. 37b, 38

D) Peter didn’t hesitate. - L v. 39a

E) Peter witnessed deep sorrow. - L v. 39b

III. Jesus’ Power Raises Dorcas. -  L v. 40

A)  Peter got alone with God.

B)  Peter prayed to God.

Matthew 6:6

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

C)  Peter did what God instructed. - L v. 40b

IV. Dorcas’ Resurrection Had Benefits. - L v. 41-43

A) The widows had their friend back - L v. 41 

B) Many found faith in Christ. -  L v. 42

C) Peter spent a lot of time in Joppa - L v. 43; & Acts 10:34

Conclusion:  Four Points Of Interest

1) Christians need to have dreams of faith. - L v. 37 

2) There are times in ministry where we should not delay. - L v. 38

3) Prayer helps us receive God’s will. - L v. 40

4) Praying brings us dreams that God will fulfill. - L v. 42
