Question:  What is in your heart?

Reasons For Prejudice:

1) People are different.

2)  People mistreat people.

3) People are prideful.

Two Main Points For Today:

I.  God Breaks Down Cornelius’ Prejudice – L - v. 1-8

A) Cornelius was a Centurion. - L – v. 1

B) Cornelius had a reverence for God. - L – v. 2

John 6:44

Jesus said, “No one can come to me unless the Father draws him….”

1. He was a devout man.

2. He was a God-fearing man.

3. He was charitable.

4. He prayed to God.

Hebrews 11:6

“without faith, it is impossible to please God….He is a rewarder to those who diligently seek Him”

Lesson: People who seek God will find Him.

Q)  Was Cornelius a Jewish worshipper?

A) No!  Because he was not circumcised. L – Acts 11: 2, 3

C) Cornelius received a vision from God.   – L – v. 3-6

1. He was afraid. – L – v. 3,4

2. He was praised – L - v. 4

3. He received instructions. – L – v. 5, 6

D) Cornelius obeyed the angel’s commands. – L – v. 7, 8

II.  God Taught Peter To Break Down Prejudices – L - v. 9-22

A)  Peter prayed often. – L – v. 9

B)  Peter was a mere man . – L – v. 10

C)  Peter experienced a trance. – L – v. 10b-21

1. It was from heaven. – L – v. 11, 12

2. God told Peter to kill and eat. – L – v. 13, 14

3. God had cleansed the unclean animals.  – L – v. 15, 16

D)  Peter was prompted by God. – L – v. 17-20

1. God had more for Peter. – L – v. 19, 20

2. Peter went to help these Gentile men. – L – v. 21, 22

James 4:17

“ Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

3.  Peter accepted these men. – L – v. 23

John 17:21

Jesus prayed to His Father, “That they all may be one as you, Father are in Me and I in You, that believe that

You sent Me.”

Conclusion:

Five Points of Interest

1) You must give up prejudices to listen to God. – L – V. 3-6

2) Men of God pray to God. – L – v. 2, 9

3) All of us struggle to obey God’s Will. – L – v. 13-16

4) Those who diligently seek God will know their next step. – L – v. 5,6, 14, 20

5) Christians need to reach out to the lost. – L – v. 23
