Fact: You Can’t Take The Cross Out Of The Gospel.

Two Main Points For Today’s Message:

I. Paul And Barnabas Go To Antioch of Pisidia. - L v.  14-16

A) These ministers went to the synagogue on the sabbath.- L v. 14

B) They were invited to speak. - L v. 15

C) Paul addresses these worshipping Jews. - L v. 16  

“Men of Israel” refers to Jews by birth or proselyte Jews.

“You who fear God” refers to Gentiles who were attached

to God but were not circumcised.

II. Paul States God’s Workings Throughout History - L v.  17-22

A) Paul says God chose Israel. - L v. 17

Question: What did God choose Israel for?

Answer: To take on the mission of sharing God’s truth to the Gentiles.

C) God’s patience with the Israelites. - L v. 18; Read L Exodus 13: 21, 22

“The arm of God” is a symbol of His omnipotence. -L Exodus 6:1, 6

Psalm 8:3

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained.

B) Paul tells of Israel’s deliverance. - L v. 17

D) God led Israel to conquer Canaan. - L v. 19

Deuteronomy 7:1

“When the Lord your God brings you into the land which you go to possess and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you.

E) God gave Israel judges. - L v. 20

F) God gives Israel a judge and prophets. - L v. 20

Question: Up to this point, what was Israel’s mistake?

Answer: It was not worshipping and obeying God’s will.

G) God gave Israel a king. -  L v. 21

I Samuel 8:5

And said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.​

H) God raised up a special king. - L v. 22

Question: How could God say that King David was a man after His own heart?

Answer: When he was confronted with his sin, he would repent of it.

Conclusion:  

Four Points Of Interest

1) Take the gospel where you can reach people. - L v. 14

2) Take advantage of opportunities to share the gospel. - L v. 15, 16

3) Know something about the people you are witnessing too.

4) Realize, only God can bring victory in your life. - L v. 19

Question: How can you fall in love with God enough to share the gospel of Christ?
