God Calls For World Evangelism

"L" = Look Up

Acts 16:6-11

Question: How many times do we have plans                                  that aren’t God’s plans for us?

Four Points Concerning World  Evangelism:

I. The Leadership Of The Holy Spirit. – L- v.6,7

A. Paul’s team stayed long enough in Galatia. – L- v.6,7

B. The Holy Spirit forbade Paul’s team to go westward. - L- v.6

C. The Holy Spirit forbade Paul’s team to go to Bithynia. - L- v.7

D. The Holy Spirit’s leadership brought Paul’s team some stress. – L- v.8

1) Paul’s plans were important.

2) Paul’s timing was wrong.

3) Paul was given no reason for the rejection of his plan.

4) Only God knew the reasons.

Lesson: every believer must trust the holy spirit’s leadership to open or close doors for evangelism.

John 16:13

Jesus said, “However, when He, the Spirit of Truth has come, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak and He will tell you things to come.”

E. Paul’s team were willing to do evangelism anywhere.

II. The Clear Call By God’s Spirit. -L- v.8,9

A. God’s Spirit kept Paul’s team moving. – L- v.8

Two Reasons God Opens and Closes Doors:

1. To protect His faithful followers.

2. To open a great door for His servants.

B. Paul’s team was called to Europe. – L- v.9

Remember: Peter had a vision. -L- Acts 10:9-16

III. The Strong Conviction Of The Holy Spirit. – L- v.10

A. Paul’s team wanted to go to Macedonia immediately.

B. Paul added someone to his team. – L- v.10

“The Lord had called us” means Luke was included.

C. The Lord God calls His missionaries.

I John 4:1

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

A. They traveled to Samothrace. – L- 11a

IV. They Obeyed The Lord’s Call. L- v.11

B. They traveled from Samothrace to Neapolis.

Four Points of Interest:

1) We need to let the Holy Spirit lead us.

Galatians 5:16

“…Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

2) The Holy Spirit knows what doors are open or closed to us.

Galatians 6:8

“For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

3) The Holy Spirit will call us to share the Gospel to certain people.

– L- v.9,10

4) The Holy Spirit tells you what to do, don’t delay. -  L – v.11
