HOW TO BE FAITHFUL BELIEVERS

Fact: Faithfulness requires us to be persistent.
Question: Would you go visit an area where you were threatened
with your life? - L- Acts 14:19,20
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
I. Faithfulness is Making Disciples. - L- v.1-3; L- Matthew 28:19,20
A. Timothy provided a wonderful surprise. – L- v.1a
“Behold” means looking at a wonderful discovery.
B. Timothy had a godly mother and grandmother – L- v.1a
II Timothy 1:5
Paul writes, “When I recall to you (Timothy) the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also."
1) He was a young man.
2) He was respected for his faith. – L- v.2
C. Timothy had an unbelieving father. – L- v.3
D. Timothy was asked to make a compromise -L- v.3; L- Galatians 2:3-5;
L- Genesis 17:1-2, 8-14
II. Faithfulness Delivers the True Salvation Message. – L- v.4
A. The Holy Spirit led the Jerusalem Council. – L- Acts 15:28
B. There were decrees to follow. - L- v.4; L- Acts 15:20
1) Abstain from things polluted by idols.
2) Abstain from sexual immorality.
I Corinthians 6:18a
“Flee sexual immorality…”
3) Abstain from meat from strangled animals.
4) Abstain from murdering.
C. Paul was faithful to deliver the decrees. – L- v.4
II Corinthians 13:1
“…By the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word shall be established.”
III. Faithfulness Produces Godly Fruit. – L- v.5
A. They strengthened the church – L- v.5
“So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”
“Strengthening” comes from a Greek Word meaning healing.
B. They shared the Gospel faithfully. – L- v.5b
Three Points of Interest
1. Faithfulness includes making disciples. – L- Matthew 28:19,20
2. Faithfulness never compromises the truth.
3. Faithfulness will produce Godly fruit.
